Sossusvlei

Perhaps the most defined image of Namibia's unworldly landscapes, Situated in the vast Namib-Naukluft National Park, Sossusvlei is the largest conservation area in Africa characterized by the large red dunes that surround it, some of the highest in the world reaching over 400m high and spanning an area of more than 32,000 square kilometres. The landscapes of Sossusvlei are constantly changing in one of the world's oldest and driest ecosystems, shaped by the constant wind.

Wildlife Highlights

The wildlife to be found in the Sossusvlei and Sesriem area are extremely interesting and often totally unique, having adapted itself to the harsh environment. Among the larger animals to be found are the springbok, oryx , ostrich and zebras as well as sometimes hyenas, jackals and the elusive leopard.
